David Petersen
Owner
Dave opened Petersen’s Carpet & Flooring in 1983 with the belief that excellent customer service, integrity and value are worthwhile goals. He believes that even more today. Prior to opening the business, Dave was a flooring installer for years. His installation experience guides him in problem solving unique and out of the ordinary installation requests and unforeseen problems that occasionally present themselves on jobs. You can often find Dave inspecting jobs prior to, during and post installation to ensure they are up to Petersen’s high standards.
Gayle Petersen
Owner/General Manager
Helping create beautiful spaces has been Gayle’s passion for over 30 years. Whether it’s a room, a garden or a community, she is grateful every day to have this experience.
Stewart Kennedy
Owner/Director of Finance/Accounts Receivable
Stewart joined the Petersen’s team in May of 2004, bringing over 20 years of business and finance expertise. He felt so strongly about the strength, integrity and philosophy of the business that he became an owner in October of 2013. If you call the office and can’t reach Stewart, you’ll probably find him tee-ing off at a local green!
Carrie Miller
Operations
Carrie has many years of customer service experience. She has the desire to serve all customers to ensure that they have the utmost positive experience. Carrie has been with Petersen’s since 2011, serving as our leader of operations. You can always find her on the phone, scheduling jobs, coordinating installation crews and deliveries and sometimes even driving the forklift! Carrie is a proud and doting grandmother to TEN grandchildren!
Chris Long
Warehouse Manager
Chris has been in management positions for well over 20 years. His desire to work for the best companies and with great co-workers made choosing to come on board with Petersen’s an easy decision. Chris keeps us organized, receives deliveries and most importantly, ensures that our crews have all the materials they need each morning before heading out to installations. Outside of work, Chris is a busy father and grandfather who enjoys spending time with his family.
Pete Harner
Warehouse/Punch Out Tech
Pete has been with Petersen's for 5 years. He co-leads the warehouse and is our go-to for his excellent skills at punch-out work. In his free time, Pete enjoys playing video games and spending time with his partner, Faith and their rescue cats.
Sarah Ruckert
Assistant Sales Manager
Sarah has nearly 30 years of flooring experience, having started working in her hometown flooring store after school as a teenager. She joined Petersen’s team in 2008 as a part time assistant. Over the years her role with Petersen’s has grown to include sales and operations support, marketing, recruiting and most importantly, her position as Assistant Sales Manager. Sarah strives to ensure that all Petersen’s customers have a stellar experience from beginning to end. Sarah is the mother of two teenage boys and spends much of her free time creating art and exploring along the Potomac River.
Vincent Timm
Sales Support Specialist
Vincent Timm is more than somebody with two first names. He arrived in Frederick after years of customer service in both Virginia & Colorado. After work, time is spent with family and friends watching sports, playing music, or checking out an art gallery. You might see him on the Golden Mile riding his scooter, "Babe".
Aniki Steensen
Flooring Specialist
Aniki Steensen started helping customers decorate their interiors when she was 15, working in her dad's paint and wallpaper store, which eventually branched into flooring. She has her degree in Interior Design from the University of MD. In her spare time she loves gardening, kayaking and jigsaw puzzles, reading and spending time with her 5 grandsons.
Ken Lavern
Flooring Specialist
Kenny joined The Petersen’s team in August of 2020 bringing over 40 years of experience in the flooring industry. Kenny is a loving husband to his wife Maria of 38 years and is also a proud father of 3 and grandfather of 4. Outside of work he loves the time that he spends with his boys on the greens as well as spending time with his family.
Rebecca Steen
Flooring Specialist
Rebecca has over 20 years of experience in the remodeling and building industry ranging from flooring and design to new construction, to real estate. Her passion is helping people create beautiful and functional spaces that will continue to add value to their home throughout the years. When she's not hard at work, she enjoys adventure sports, reading, drawing, and spending quality time with her beloved dog.
Adam Weissman
Flooring Specialist
Adam was born into the flooring industry. My father started his flooring business before I was born, and flooring has been in my blood ever since. After 32 years of being in this industry I couldn't be happier at Petersen's Carpet and Flooring. With my knowledge, and experience, that I have gained throughout my career, I am always willing to help customers make their flooring projects fun. After work, I am an avid sports fan, love hanging out with family and friends, and play as much golf as I can.
Bin
With her big smile and little wagging nubby she welcomes everyone she meets. She has been part of our team and a fixture in our showroom for over 9 years. She enjoys treats, belly rubs and running around the showroom before and after store hours.

Our installation teams are second to none! They are highly trained craftsmen who have a long history with Petersen’s. Whether it's our in-house teams or one of our independent contractors, your installation is backed by our Petersen’s Guarantee.
